Biography

I am an Associate Teaching Professor of Mathematics at Northeastern University Oakland. I teach various mathematics courses, from elementary topics to advanced pure mathematics and mathematical analysis. Previously, I taught at UC Irvine and other institutions. I completed my PhD in Mathematics at Trinity College Dublin in 2012 under the supervision of Professor Richard Timoney. Professor Garth Dales was the principal examiner and referee for my doctoral thesis. My background and research interests are in functional analysis, especially operator algebras, operator spaces, and ternary rings of operators. Operator algebras were established through the development of von Neumann algebras (in the 1930s) and C*-algebras (in the 1940s). In 1969, Arveson discovered an operator-theoretic analog of the Hahn-Banach Theorem, paving the way for operator space theory. Within the category of operator spaces, ternary rings of operators are significant because, as Ruan demonstrated in 1989, injective operator spaces are precisely the TROs of the form pAq from injective C*-algebras.

My joint work with Professor Bernard Russo was selected as the 2018 Best Paper Award Winner among 111 papers published in 2016 and 2017 in Advances in Operator Theory.
